Whispers for Return Film Exhibition | Takhshina Gallery
Opening on the 21st of September 2023
It was a great experience to curate this group exhibition for the Takhshina Gallery running in Parallel with the Goethe Film Week in Cairo.
The exhibition features film works by South Ajdabiya collective, Rawane Nassif, Panos Aprahamian, and Marianne Fahmy.
Between dystopia and yearning for a better future, these filmmakers share their uneasy visions and poetic reflections on our current world.
Solo Exhibition | Parallel Program
Storytelling workshop through Tapestry
Along with an exhibition tour, I arranged a workshop that goes around visual storytelling by working together on tapestry pieces printed specifically for the workshop.
We started by reading texts that goes around using photography in telling a story, opening up
the discussion to our relation with fantasy images, self-representation, and photo albums. We also delved into the technical aspect of Tapestry printing and the exhibition's focus on different media for printing photographic images.
Solo Exhibition | Takhshina Gallery | Was That Really You? Maybe
Opening on the 21st of May 2023.
The exhibited artworks add (un)expected layer to an ongoing project. The project started with a question: Was That Really You? A question you pose when you see a photo that fails to properly represent its subject.
This phase of the project comes to answer the overarching question with ‘maybe’, ‘I don’t know’; answers rooted in our hesitation, fear, and shame whenever a photo takes its own path regardless of our intentions. The exhibition proposes a toolkit that might come in handy whenever your photos resist you–a guide, if you will, on how to tame your wild photos that defy interpretation.
Cairo Photo Week | FAROUK IBRAHIM: THE LEGEND
Opening on the 9th of February @ Access Art Space

More than 120 photos were shown after 3 intensive months of opening up his archive with his youngest son Karim Farouk at Al Akhbar AlYoum Foundation.
This wouldn’t have been done without the generosity and trust of Photopia and Marwa Abo Leila.
